Parishioners, Friends, Neighbors & Supporters of St. Marys– Greetings in the name of our savior and friend Jesus Christ!
We are celebrating a bittersweet milestone in the history of St. Mary’s and we’d like you to join us. On Sunday, May 20, 2012, Father Earl Kooperkamp will be preaching his last sermon as Rector of St. Mary’s Church. We are setting aside our feelings of sadness to send the Kooperkamps off joyously to their new ministry in Vermont. We have so very much to try to express to Father Earl and Elizabeth: thanksgiving for their varied and energetic ministries here at St. Mary’s; appreciation for their ministries throughout Harlem and greater New York; and gratitude for their love and friendship over these many years – these are just the beginning. What a privilege it has been to have them both in our lives!

Join us on May 20th at St. Mary’s for Father Earl’s last sermon at 10am, if you can, but be sure to join us for the garden party celebration at noon on Sunday, May 20th.

To send the Kooperkamps off right, we are accepting two kinds of donations for this event:
1- We’re collecting funds to pass along directly to the Kooperkamps as a cash gift to help them with their move and to settle in to their new life in Vermont.
2- We’re also accepting donations for the farewell celebration (while many people are donating their services out of love and gratitude for the Kooperkamps, there are still quite a few unavoidable expenses).

In addition, we are also asking for letters and expressions of fond recollections for a memory book that we will create. Pictures, especially of Earl and Elizabeth, with identifying information would be GREATLY appreciated, particularly from their entire time at St. Mary’s. You may scan and email them to dorothyeross@gmail.com, or give copies to Dorothy Ross or Lisa Rivers-Mazza. Please submit these by no later than May 1, 2012, so we can have it ready for the 20th.

Please respond using the enclosed envelope by May 1, 2012. Please give what you can. No amount is too small. (And please do not discuss the details of the celebration with (or in the vicinity of) Earl and Elizabeth. Although they know that there will be a celebration, we want to keep the details a surprise.)
Thank you so much for your support and participation. We look forward to your joining us at the celebration!

YES ____ I plan to attend the Farewell Celebration for Earl and Elizabeth Kooperkamp on Sunday, May 20 at 12 noon, and rejoice with the St. Mary’s family! #_____ Please expect this number of attendees.

Peace, Dorothy
