At St. Mary’s, stewardship begins with the church’s mission: WE ARE NOT AFRAID… to work for justice and peace for the poor and oppressed; to pray and care for the sick, lonely and at risk; to protect and tend to God’s earth as its loving stewards; and to have a bit of fun while we’re at it. Stewardship at St. Mary’s involves safeguarding the resources required to fulfill this mission. But it’s about more than money. Stewardship includes how our time is spent, how our relationships are encouraged, how our abilities are shared, and, yes, how we prioritize our financial giving. Please consider donating your time & talents alongside us at St. Mary’s Church!

Our upcoming stewardship event:

May 14, 2011, 10am – 5pm is our annual GINORMOUS FLEA MARKET!!

is it a rummage sale?  is it a crafts show?  is it a book fair?  is it a bake sale?  is it a health fair?  is it a raffle drawing?  YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES!!!  have (gently) used items (clothes, housewares, toys, books, anything) to donate to the church?  start collecting them now, but drop them off ONLY between may 8 and may 13.  want to rent a space/table to sell your crafts?  email us ASAP at harlem.crafts.fair@gmail.com.  on the day, come shop-shop-shop, eat delicious food, check your health and get the kids’ faces painted (and their photo taken)!  all to benefit st. mary’s church & its outreach programs!

raffle tickets are $5 each.  grand prize is a brand new iPad 2 (16gb, wifi – not necessarily color/version shown above); second prize – event tickets; third prize is a $50 gift certificate to Fairway Market.

the drawing will take place at 4pm on saturday, May 14.  no need to be present at the drawing, but you MUST include your name/address/phone number in the “Add special instructions for the Merchant” section of paypal.  fyi, any amounts donated NOT enough to purchase a whole raffle ticket, will be considered a donation to the church (i.e., if you donate $22, leaving special instructions with your name/address/phone, you’ll get FOUR $5 raffle tickets and we’ll accept the remaining $2 as a donation to st. marys).  THANKS FOR SUPPORTING ST.
