A Blessed Easter and Welcome to St. Mary’s Church!

The Episcopal Church Women’s Prayer Committee will meet today following the 10:00 am service. All women are invited.

The next meeting of the Vestry: Wednesday, May 6th at 5:30 pm. All are welcome.

CELEBRATE  MOTHER’S DAY and the Month of Mary with Internationally renowned Italian Percussionist Alessandra Belloni and ‘DAUGHTERS OF CYBELE’ Women Drummers for World Peace featuring Southern Italian ritual drumming and chants in honor of the Black Madonna. Next Sunday May 10th,  2:00pm, St. Mary’s Church, donation: $15.00.

The Episcopal Church Women will meet on Sunday May 17th following the 10:00 am service. Please see Ms. Glenda White, ECW President, for more information.

“Shine a Light” a concert of New Music: May 17th 3:00 pm, including St. Mary’s own Lorrell Manning and his band, La Res, and others including Jessie Murphy In The Woods, Erin & Her Cello, Leah Siegel, Dandelion Wine & Desk This concert will be a benefit for St. Mary’s Food Pantry and Homeless Street Outreach Ministry. Presented by One Light Left.

New Life in Harlem: We have started a new Church & about 2 dozen attended! Thanks be to God!!: This afternoon at 2:00 pm Ecclesia Ministries of New York will continue a new, outdoor church in Marcus Garvey Park. Service is at 2:00 pm every Sunday. Eastertide Tuesdays: Prayer, Soup and Bible Study – During Eastertide we will gather on Tuesday evenings for prayer, soup and fellowship and Bible Study. We will begin with prayers for peace at 5:30 pm, have some soup together about 6:00 pm and undertake an “African Bible Study” from 6:30 – 7:30 pm. All are invited as we seek to follow the new light in our lives given to us in our savior Jesus.

“Welcome Home Fr. Barrios” May 8th at 5:00 pm here at St. Mary’s, a service of prayer followed by a reception to celebrate Fr. Luis Barrios as he returns from prison for his protest against the School of the Americas, a US government supoorted institution that teaches military repression & torture to soldiers from Latin America. Come welcome back Fr. Barrios.

Community Forum, featuring Democratic mayoral candidate NYC Councilmember Tony Avella, May 13th at 7:00 pm at St. Mary’s Church. Mr. Avella is a strong supporter of the West Harlem community in the struggle against Columbia University expansion.

Black Radical Congress Forum, on the occasion on Malcolm X’s birthday, May 19th, 7:00 pm at St. Mary’s Church. For more information, please call Jessica at (917) 573-5812.

St. Mary’s Summer Camp: Get ready for an exciting Summer Camp this year for children ages 6–13  years old. The camp program begins on July 6. Recreational, educational and cultural activities are the focus of the program. Please see Ms. Pearl Harris or call the Church office for more information.
