Good Morning and Welcome to St. Mary’s Church!

Today we welcome guests from the Society of St. Francis, women and men from New Guinea, Australia, the Solomon Islands, and Zimbabwe, Great Britain and the United States. Our guests are staying here at St. Mary’s for a couple of days as they seek to discern news ways for their communities to serve in the name of the Risen Christ.  We are grateful for their presence with us and ask God’s blessing on them and their communities. Welcome!!

St. Mary’s Summer Camp: Get ready for an exciting Summer Camp this year for children ages 6–13  years old. The camp program begins tomorrow, July 6. Recreational, educational and cultural activities are the focus of the program. Please see Ms. Pearl Harris or call the Church office for more information (212) 864-4013.

The Vestry will meet Wednesday, July 8th at 5:30 pm. All are welcome.

Music at St. Mary’s Returns! Don’t miss this great music and bring your friends and neighbors. There will two more concerts, this summer as well: Next Sunday: July 12th at 6:30 pm, West Harlem Winds will present a program of wind classics; August 2nd at 6:30 pm, a program of Handel, Mozart and Dvorak. Don’t miss this critically acclaimed music series! Also: July 19, Sunday at 3:00 pm, Harlem Opera Theater will present a vocal recital by the recent winners of their annual vocal competition. All are invited.

New Life in Harlem: We have started a new Church, Thanks be to God!!: This afternoon at 2:00 pm Ecclesia Ministries of New York will continue a new, outdoor church in Marcus Garvey Park, 2:00 pm every Sunday. St. Mary’s Church is taking responsibility for the
first and third Sunday each month. We provide the lunch for the “Second Meal.” If you are interested in helping out, please call the church office. For more information about Ecclesia and the Marcus Garvey Park Church, please call Father David Madsen, (646) 753-1771.

Stewardship: Please keep your pledge up to date during the summer if you are planing to be out of town. Also, if you have not yet made a pledge to St. Mary’s Church, please prayerfully consider doing so. By our pledges and participation in our common worship together, we support each other and the entire ministry of our parish, serving Christ together as the body of the Faithful. Thank you for your past support of St. Mary’s Church and please keep your support constant in these difficult times.

Teach-In for Troy Davis, Wednesday, July 15, 7:00 – 9:00 pm at St. Mary’s, an expose of the racist and unjust use of the death penalty in the United States. Speakers will include Amy Goodman of Democracy Now!, Lawrence Hayes, former Black Panther and death row prisoner, Michael Letwin, legal activist and others. Sponsored by Amnesty International, Campaign to End the Death Penalty, Correctional Association, Drop the Rock, International Socialist Organization.
