Good Morning and Welcome to St. Mary’s Church!
Many Thanks to Ishmael Wallace for sharing his gift of music with us this morning. St. Mary’s Choir has travelled to New Hampshire today to worship with the Plainfield Com-munity Church. May God grant safe travel to our choir and may their worship with our friends in Plainfield be filled with the gifts of the Spirit!
Restoration Projects: Today we continue a special collection for a few desperately needed restoration projects, including fixing some leaking gutters and improving access with a new wheelchair ramp to the Sanctuary and a chair lift for the Undercroft. These are important projects identified by the Vestry and the Property Committee as needing urgent attention. Please consider making a special gift to help these projects become a reality. Also, a great THANK YOU to Gary Sharp and Kym Roberts for renovating the sidewalk in the Church garden. It is now much safer and much more beautiful. Thanks for your hard work, Gary and Kym!!
Stewardship Committee Meeting: Tuesday, November 10th, 7:00 – 8:30 pm. Please see Mr. Patrick Harding, Stewardship Committee chair, for more information.
Vestry Meeting: Next meeting, Wednesday Nov. 18th at 5:30 pm. All are invited.
Eccelsia: Marcus Garvey Park: Sundays at 2:00 pm. St. Mary’s is the lead congregation on the first and third Sunday each month. Next week we need volunteers to help make bag lunches after the 10:00 am service. Many thanks to all helping to make this new Church a powerful witness to the love of Jesus in our city.
St. Mary’s Saturday Homeless Outreach: Our program to reach out to the homeless in Harlem needs more volunteers. We prepare about 60 bag lunches between 12 noon and 2:00 pm and then go out on the streets from 2:00 pm until about 3:30 pm. If you can help or know others who may volunteer, please speak to Glenda White, Janet Dorman or Lysander Puccio.
Harlem African Burial Ground: Progress continues in commemorating the Harlem African Burial Ground, where at least a dozen early African American members of St. Mary’s are interred. We are working with the Elmendorf Reformed Church. Come help to remember our ancestors so that their legacy may live for future generations.
Fundraising concert for Street Outreach: Sunday, November 22, 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm we will have a concert of new musical groups to raise funds for St. Mary’s Street Outreach Project. Lorrel Manning, a member of St. Mary’s Church and a founder of La Res, invites one and all to an afternoon of great music for a great cause.
Seventh Annual Cities Against the Death Penalty: Prayer Vigil, November 30th, 7:30 pm at the Church of St. Ignatius (980 Park Avenue at 84th St.). Billy Neal Moore, a prison chaplain and former death row inmate will give the reflection. Sponsored by the Community of Sant’Egidio, The Catholic Worker and the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
