Good Morning and Welcome to St. Mary’s Church!

Many thanks to our guest musicians this morning, artists who perform with “Music at St. Mary’s” Liz Player, Christa Sommers, Megan Schumate and Deidre Bird-Kelly. The next concert for Music at St. Mary’s will be on February 23, 2010.

Stewardship Time: As we prepare to enter a new year, St. Mary’s Stewardship Committee is asking all members with a current pledge to renew their pledges and consider an increase in the level of your pledge. For those who do not pledge, now is the time! Today Mr. Radford Arrindell will address the congregation. If you have any questions, please speak with Mr. Patrick Harding, Stewardship Committee chairperson.

Four Projects: We passed the half-way mark in Fundraising last week, with about $3500 of the $6000 we seek. This special collection is for a few desperately needed restoration projects, including fixing some leaking gutters and improving access with a new wheelchair ramp to the Sanctuary and a chair lift for the Undercroft. These are important projects identified by the Vestry and the Property Committee as needing urgent attention.

Episcopal Church Women: St. Mary’s ECW will meet today following the 10:00 am service to plan for the ECW retreat. All women are invited. Please see Ms. Glenda White for more information. The ECW Prayer Committee usually meets on the second Sunday.

“Peace of Pizza” Wednesday, December 16th at 7:00 pm. Join the members of the New York Intern Program for a light supper and discussion of how our faith influences taking care of our health. All are invited!

Christmas Eve Service: December 24 at 7:30 pm we will gather in worship to give thanks for the birth of the Savior.

Annual Kwanzaa Celebration: Sunday December 27 at 10:00 am we will hold our Kwanzaa Celebration, Mr. Charles Kelly and St. Mary’s Choir leading our worship.

Eccelsia: Marcus Garvey Park: Sundays at 2:00 pm. St. Mary’s is the lead congregation on the first and third Sunday each month. Nest Sunday we will need volunteers to help make bag lunches after the 10:00 am service. Many thanks to all helping to make this new Church a powerful witness to the love of Jesus in our city.

St. Mary’s Saturday Homeless Outreach: Our program to reach out to the homeless in Harlem needs more volunteers. We prepare about 60 bag lunches between 12 noon and 2:00 pm & then go out on the streets from 2:00 pm until about 3:30 pm. If you can help, please speak to Glenda White, Janet Dorman or Lysander Puccio.

Mariam, Mark and Marx: Come join our monthly Bible Study and current events discussion. Please note the December meeting will be Thursday, December 17th at 7:00 pm, due to Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Please see Jim White for more information.

Preaching Next Week: December 20: The Rev. Chloe A. Breyer, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and the Interfaith Center of New York.
