Good Morning and Welcome to St. Mary’s Church

Many thanks to Tommy Cheng and Ray Lewis for leading our procession this morning with bagpipes and drums. And Special Thanks to Liz Player and Carl Jackson of Music at St. Mary’s for the beautiful prelude, offertory and postlude music. Thanks as well to our “strippers” Lillian Spann, Jesus Lopez and Rachel Taylor for getting the palm branches ready for the procession. As we begin our walk with Jesus for Holy Week, please keep in prayer those who are the “least of these” in our world.

HOLY WEEK SCHEDULE:

Tenebrae: Wednesday, March 31st, 6:30 pm, A meditative service of readings and prayers to begin the Tridium.

Maundy Thursday: April 1st, 6:30 pm, Footwashing and Holy Communion, followed by stripping the Altar and an Agape meal in the Rectory.

All Night Vigil in Garden of Repose: Thursday 9:00 pm through Friday 8:00 am, come and pray, sign up for an hour or more. We will set up the Garden of Repose following the Agape meal in the Rectory. Please sign up on the sheet on the back table.

Good Friday: April 2nd, 12 noon – 3:00 pm, A service remembering the death of Jesus on the Cross. The Solemn Collects, Stations of the Cross, Veneration of the Cross.

Holy Saturday: April 3rd, 12 noon: A brief service in the Garden.

Easter Sunday, the Day of Resurrection: April 4th, 6:00 am Sunrise Vigil; 8:00 am and 10:00 am Holy Baptism and Communion. The Rev. Chloe A. Breyer will be our preacher at the 10:00 am service. Rev. Kooperkamp will preach at 6:00 & 8:00 am.

Ecclesia: Celebration of Easter in Marcus Garvey Park, 2:00 pm : Easter Day 2010 marks the first anniversary of this “homeless” Church. Come celebrate with as in all the beauty of God’s creation. Northeastern section of the park, in the “Drummers’ Circle” near Madison Avenue and East 124th Street entrance.

Appreciative Inquiry “Envisioning Our Future”: Sunday, April 11th following the 10:00 am service, we will continue our Appreciative Inquiry process that we started the Sunday after Easter 2008. A light lunch will be served. This is a time to talk together and to discern where God is calling us in pursuit of God’s mission. All are invited & urged to attend.

Shakuhachi Flute Concert: Japanese bamboo flute music, Friday, April 16th at 7:00 pm. Ancient Temple music of Japan performed by Gary Yugetsu Sharp. Donation requested, proceeds to benefit St. Mary’s Church.

Spring concert: Music at St. Mary’s with guest harpist Brandee Younger. Sunday, April 25th at 3:00 pm. Music by DeBussy, Mozart and more. $15 general admission, $10 seniors/students. Come to support our talented Church members and neighborhood musicians.
