Good Morning and Welcome to St. Mary’s Church!!

The Flowers on the Altar this morning are given to the Glory of God and in grateful remembrance of the life of Henry Yoshinaga Kasai on the eleventh anniversary of his death by his dear friend Linda Struble. May the souls of the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Worship Committee: Today Sunday, August 1st, following the 10:00 am service: come join us to discuss worship at St. Mary’s Church and plan for ways we can praise God and inspire the saints for the building of the Kingdom.

Godspeed and blessings to our brother Mario Clemenzio as he heads off to pursue his studies in music at Fisk University in Nashville, TN. Go with God, Mario!!

Space for Grace, August 4th at 7:00 pm: Rev. Kooperkamp will be the guest preacher this Wednesday at Riverside Church’s “Space for Grace” service. This is a service to inspire the soul mid-week. A soup supper is served at 6:30 pm; worship begins at 7:00 pm.

Episcopal Church Women’s Prayer Committee will meet next Sunday, August 8th following the 10:00 am service. All women are invited to pray with us and deepen our relationship in God’s love.

Vestry Meeting, August 12th at 6:00 pm. All are invited to attend.

“Back to School” party for teenagers; August 28th 4:00 – 7:00 pm, is being planned by the Episcopal Church Women. Please see Celia Braxton for how you can help.

Pledge statements for the first half of 2010 are now ready to be picked up. These reports help you to keep track of your giving to St. Mary’s Church. Thank you so much for your open hearts in supporting the ministry of St. Mary’s. But also…

During the Summer, please do not forget to bring your pledge to the Church if you are going to be out of town. St. Mary’s Church depends on the generous contributions of our members to keep our programs operating. Thank you and have a safe and relaxing summer!

Eccelsia: Marcus Garvey Park: Sundays at 2:00 pm. St. Mary’s is the lead congregation on the first and third Sunday each month. Today, August 1st we will need some volunteers following the service to help us put together the meals. Also: St. Mary’s Homeless Street Outreach: Saturdays, 12 noon preparation and 2:00 pm street outreach. Please let us know if you can help and please keep the Homeless Street Outreach in your prayers. We need more volunteers for this important outreach ministry of the parish. Thank you!!

Movies at St. Mary’s: St. Mary’s and Ecclesia Ministries will show movies at 6:00 pm on Fridays, and once a month host and open mic cabaret. Come for the fellowship, the popcorn and the FUN!! Also, we need volunteers to help set up and clean up after the movies, so please let Lisa Slocum know if you can help out. Thanks!!

Preaching schedule for this month: August 8 & 15: Rev. Kooperkamp; August 22: Rev. Gordon Duggins; August 29: Rev. Chloe Breyer. Rev. Kooperkamp will be out of town on vacation August 16- 30.

      Open mic night is every fourth Friday. The next open mic nights are September 3, October 1, October 29, November and Nov 26. The evening goes from 6 PM to about 8:30 PM. We look forward to having you with us!
