Good Morning and Welcome to St. Mary’s Church!!

Many thanks to the Harlem Chamber Players for the beautiful music during the service this morning. The Harlem Chamber Players – wind trio, include: Carl Jackson, clarinet Liz Player, clarinet, David Miller, bassoon. This is a taste of the good music to come as we open the season of “Music at St. Mary’s” next Sunday afternoon.

Music at St. Mary’s: Season Opening Concert: Sept. 26th at 3:00 pm: The Harlem Chamber Players return for a new season!! The program includes: Johann Sebastian Bach “Viola da Gamba Sonata in G Major, for Cello and Piano” Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson “Movement for String Trio” Max Bruch Pieces for Clarinet, Viola and Piano & Brahms “Sextet No. 1 in B-flat Major for Strings”

Stewardship Drive: Stewardship Campaign for 2011. Pledge cards are available to enable giving by our members to support St. Mary’s mission, to carry out the work God has for us to do. Thanks to Ms. Lois Coe, today’s Stewardship speaker. The Stewardship Campaign will reach out to the entire congregation. We will hold a Stewardship Luncheon on Oct. 17th.

Today: Reliv Health Fair: Sept. 19th after the 10:00 am service all are invited to attend. Nutritional beverages will be served. Sponsored by Mrs. Emma Collins.

The next Vestry meeting is Sept. 23rd at 6:00 pm. All are welcome to attend.

Organ Recital: Karen Beaumont, an internationally acclaimed organist from Wisconsin, will present a free recital at St. Mary’s Church, Monday, September 27th at 4:00 pm.
Harlem is Being Destroyed: We Need to Hear From You: The Coalition to Preserve Community will hold a forum on the Columbia University expansion project into West Harlem: Monday, September 27th at 6:30 pm. Tell your friends and neighbors and come to help find the ways to preserve our neighborhood for all.

Instructed Eucharist: Sept. 24th at 10:00 am we will learn about our Liturgy and how we praise God in Music and Prayer.

Tuesday Evening Bible Study will resume on September 28st at 6:00 pm. This Fall we will begin a study of the Hebrew scriptures. For Sept. 28, please read Genesis 12-19.

Eccelsia: Marcus Garvey Park: Sundays at 2:00 pm. St. Mary’s is the lead congerga-tion on the first Sunday each month. Today, September 5 th we will need some volunteers following the service to help us put together the meals. Also: St. Mary’s Homeless Street Outreach: Saturdays, 12:00 noon preparation and 2:00 pm street outreach. Please let us know if you can help and please keep the Homeless Street Outreach in your prayers.

Movies at St. Mary’s: St. Mary’s and Ecclesia Ministries will show movies at 6:00 pm on Fridays, and once a month host and open mic cabaret. Come for the fellowship, the popcorn and the FUN!! Also, we need volunteers to help set up and clean up after the movies, so please let Lisa Slocum know if you can help out. Thanks!!
