We give thanks this morning for the ordination of the Rev. Deacon Amanda Akes and her service with us. Amanda is a graduate of the New York Intern Program and was sponsored by St. Mary’s Church for ordination. She is currently serving in South Africa.
We welcome the students of Wake Forest Divinity School in their Urban Ministry Immersion and a special welcome back to their professor, the Rev. Dr. Doug Bailey. May you all be blessed in your time here in New York City.
Many thanks to all for making our “Mardi Gras” Masked Ball such a great time last night! We had fun and raised money for the parish outreach programs. Well done, friends!
“Today, I am Muslim, too!” 2:00 – 5:30 pm, Times Square. An Interfaith Rally for religious tolerance and understanding in response to the March 9th Congressional hearing that many fear will be a political witch hunt. Rev. Chloe Breyer will speak at 2:15 pm.
“Where are the jobs!” Join us Tuesday, March 8th 4:00 – 6:00 pm to demand that Columbia University live up to its promises of real employment for the people of our community. Location: “Employment Office” 125th St. and Broadway.
Ash Wednesday: March 9th, The beginning of the Holy Season of Lent
Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion: 7:30 am, 12 noon and 6:30 pm.
Noonday Prayers: During Lent, we will have Noonday prayers at St. Mary’s Church, Monday through Friday. Please come join us! Also, we will chant the “Great Litany” in solemn procession on Fridays in Lent at the “Isaiah Wall” 42nd St. and First Avenue.

United States Institute for Peace: Please take a moment this week and call Senators Schumer and Gillibrand , (202) 224-3121, and urge them to continue funding for the. USIP.
St. Mary’s “Annual Parish Meeting” will take place next week, The First Sunday of Lent, following the 10:00 am service. We will adopt a Parish Budget for 2011, elect a new Warden and Vestry members and hear reports about the ministries of our parish.
