Festive Easter Worship with Easter Egg Hunt in the Garden following the 10:30 am service. All kids invited! (Grown-up help welcomed!)

Come to coffee hour and hear from the Fellows about their placements around the city and what they’ve been learning this year.

Wednesday, April 4th, 2018, 5 pm-8:30 pm: Honoring Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with Black Lives Matter NY
Black Lives Matter of New York invites you to join us and do what is right, to celebrate and to act as we walk through Harlem to hold reverence for his life and fulfill ​the call to service of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the 50th Anniversary of his assassination. Many of us were not present for Dr. King’s history making speech on that fateful day in Memphis, but together, starting now and right here in New York City, we will forge history and climb to that next mountaintop.
5 – 6:00pm Gather at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. statue in Harlem to hear from artists, activists and leaders
6:00 – 7pm | Silent, reverential march together from the Adam Clayton Powell Jr statue to Riverside Church
7 – 8:30pm | Celebratory gathering at Riverside Church with world-renowned entertainers and thought leaders

Thursday, April 5, 6:30 pm: Food Programs Benefit Organ Concert
Karen Beaumont will offer an organ recital at St. Mary’s with transcriptions by Fernando Sor, Archangelo Corelli, and Heinrich Biber—some lively and light, some tender and intimate. She is an active organ recitalist and organ and piano instructor.  She also plays the French Horn.  She holds a degree in Music History from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. http://karenbeaumontorganist.mysite.com Reception for an artist meet-and-greet at 6 pm.

Friday, April 6, 3-5 pm: Thrift Store Grand Re-opening!
St. Mary’s Thrift Store re-opens this spring. Beginning on April 6, the Thrift Store will be open Fridays 3-5 pm & Saturdays and Sundays 12-5 pm.

Wednesday, April 11, 7:30 pm: Anti-Fascism in America Film & Discussion
At St. Mary’s, a film followed by discussion of Bob Avakian’s new speech that addresses the most urgent question of the day: how to understand, and what to do about, the threat to humanity itself posed by the Trump/Pence regime. This talk makes the case for massive, sustained, nonviolent outpourings, involving diverse perspectives, continuing until the demand is met: the Trump/Pence Regime MUST GO! www.revcom.us

Sunday, April 15, Coffee hour: Wisdom Circle
For self-identified seniors, elders and wisepeople. This Circle is a space for you to be yourself, connect to other elders, reflect together on the blessings and hardships of life, and share your rich spiritual insight and wonderful gifts. Topic this month: Who am I becoming?

Ecclesia
Every 1st Sunday 2:00 p.m. in Marcus Garvey Park. St. Mary’s is the lead congregation on the first Sunday of each month. We always need some volunteers to help prepare and serve the “Second Meal” following the service.

 Unity Fellowship Church of New York
Led by Sr. Bishop Zachary Jones. Unity worships on Sundays at 2:00pm.

Metro New York Adventist Forum
Led by Ms. Janet Schultz. Adventist Forum gathers on the second Saturday of the month (please check for specific dates). 

Pamsula Zen Meditation
Teacher Daiken Nelson. Every Monday evening at 6:00 pm in the rectory.

Birthdays and Baptismal Blessings first Sunday of each month. 

Spirit and Strife Peer Support Group the first Sunday of each month at 12:30 pm in the rectory – Come share your burdens and joys in this prayerful circle of support.  New members always welcome.

Miriam, Mark and Marx: Our interfaith Justice and Peace Activism Community meets the last Thursday of each month. We gather at 6:00PM to share food, experiences, and feelings. We then plan how to advance in the struggle against racism, sexism, and expanding war in these very troubling times.  For information or Pastoral Care call Jim White at 201-956-5356, or leave him a message in the parish office.  Next meeting: April 19. 

Free Movie! Every Friday Night at St. Mary’s Church at 6:00 pm… St. Mary’s Movies! April 6: the tuskegee airmen (1995, pg-13) 1h46min. bio-drama. True story of African-american pilots who overcame racist opposition to excel in wwII. w/ Laurence fishburne. Come for the fellowship, the movie, the popcorn, dinner and the fun…  volunteers always needed and welcome.

Saturday Mobile Soup Kitchen: Help prepare sandwiches and lunch bags and then distribute them to our neighbors on the street. Every Saturday at 12 noon. 

Urban Qi (free Tai Chi and Qi Gong classes for St. Mary’s members) every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Nicholas Park @135th Street. Inclement weather–meet in the Undercroft.
